Today we will discuss the Fiber Optics splicing machine
1. What is a fiber optics splicing machine?
Fiber Optics splicing machine is an electronics device that
uses an electric arc to weld or fuse two optical fibers end to end.
2. When would you use a Fiber optics splicing machine?
It basically uses to arc two optical fibers to form a continuous fiber so
the two ends of fiber optic cables can join together to form a continuous cable.
3. What are the accessories that come with the Fiber optics splicing machine?
Accessories that come with the Splicing machine are –
Fiber stripper, fiber cleaver, Buffer Tube Cutter, protective sleeve, Cleaning liquid box, and One pair of electrodes.
4. Where is the price of this“Product name”?
Prices are different for different Models–
SOLWET T-308X – INR 950000/-
SOLWET T-307H – INR 80000/-
Signal Fire Fiber optical splicing machine AI9 is INR 85000
5. Where do we use this Fiber optics splicing machine?
Optical fiber splicing machines are used in the telecommunication industry, Internet service provider, cross-country communication, defense industry, and Data transmission.
6. How do you install a Fiber optics splicing machine?
There are five basic steps to complete the splicing process –
> Put each of the two fibers on the fusion splice protection sleeve.
> Prior to splicing, the primary protective coating of each fiber shall be stripped off by using a fiber stripper and then
cleaning the bare fiber with a lint tissue paper with ethyl alcohol.
> Cleaving of the fiber shall then be performed by using a fiber cleaver.
> The bare fiber shall then be placed inside the ‘V’ groove of the splicing machine and press the start button to start the fusion splicing.
> The end of the fiber is spliced and a heat shrink protector is inserted.
7. What are the safety rules when using a Fiber optics splicing machine?
> Since bare fibers is made up of glass materials. The broken end of fibers are extremely sharp
and can easily penetrate the skin if not handled properly during fusion.
> Be very careful when disposing of fiber ends.
8. What Precautions should be taken during Splicing Process?
> Don’t handle the bare fiber with bare hands, always use hand gloves.
> Don’t cleave the fiber without removing the primary coating otherwise the diamond edge of the cleaver is damaged.
> Don’t use the bare fiber without cleaning properly for splicing.
> Don’t clean the bare fiber after cleaving.
> Don’t remove the excessive length of insulating coating beyond the dimensions of the sleeve.
